Shortest of its 16 documents, with 436 of its 1,174 words dedicated to Jewish relations,\u00a0<i>NA<\/i>\u00a0repudiated past Catholic teachings about Jews, Muslims, and the followers of other religions and provided principles for dialogue and cooperation. American Jewish Committee (AJC) was highly influential in the creation and reception of\u00a0<i>NA<\/i>. Georgetown University, the nation&#8217;s first Catholic university and its first Catholic university with a full-time rabbi in its campus ministry, and AJC believe it is incumbent upon them to co-sponsor a celebration of\u00a0<i>Nostra Aetate<\/i>&#8216;s legacy. This commitment is strong even, or perhaps especially, during this challenging period of wars in the Holy Land and beyond that have yielded some divisions and disputes among Catholics, Jews, and others. In reference to Jewish-Christian theological dialogue, Pope Leo XIV has urged that \u201ceven in these difficult times, marked by conflicts and misunderstandings, it is necessary to continue the momentum of this precious dialogue of ours\u201d (May 19, 2025).
